Create room for meaningful work, real rest, and the experiences you do not want summer to leave behind
I’m currently preparing the workbook and presentation for my upcoming Second Chance at Summer workshop, and something has been on my mind.
I’ve spoken with several people about the workshop. Some have said they are interested but busy. Others have said they will absolutely be there.
And a few have said, “It’s probably not something I need.”
That response made me curious.
Do we really not need time to think intentionally about the rest of the summer, the fall, and the second half of the year ….…or have we simply decided that planning belongs in January?
January is not your only opportunity to begin again
I know, I know, at the beginning of the year, many of us feel motivated to make plans.
We think about what we want to accomplish, how we want to feel, and what we want the year to look like.
But by the middle of the year, life has usually shifted. Some plans work beautifully, while others no longer make sense.
That is exactly why the middle of the year can be such a valuable time to pause.
You don’t have to wait until January for another chance to become intentional.
Summer can carry us away
Summer has its own rhythm. I feel that pull too.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying the slower, lighter energy of summer. The problem begins when we stop making conscious decisions and simply react to whatever appears next.
Without some kind of plan, the weeks can disappear. We may reach the fall feeling exhausted, behind in our work, or disappointed that the experiences we wanted never actually happened.
Planning should support your life
When we own businesses, manage households, care for other people, or simply want to feel more present in our own lives, some planning is essential.
But planning does not have to become another overwhelming project.
The purpose is not to control every hour.
The purpose is to make space for what matters.
That may include meaningful work, time with family, rest, creative projects, travel, outdoor experiences, or simply a little room to breathe.
A thoughtful plan can help you balance what needs to be done with what you genuinely want to experience.
Create a season that feels like yours
Without intention, it is easy to get washed away by deadlines, requests, expectations, and other people’s priorities.
A pause gives you the opportunity to ask:
What do I want from the rest of this summer?
What work truly matters before the fall?
What would help me feel rested rather than depleted?
What fun or meaningful experiences do I want to protect?
What can I release, postpone, or simplify?
These questions help you make decisions before exhaustion begins making them for you.
Give yourself a second chance at summer
The second half of the year does not need to happen by accident.
My friend, you are allowed to pause, reconsider your priorities, and create a more sustainable rhythm.
You are also allowed to plan for both progress and pleasure.
That is what Second Chance at Summer is about: taking a couple of focused hours to weave together your work, your life, and the experiences you want to have before the season disappears.
If that sounds like something you need, SIGN UP NOW because it’s happening in 2 short days! There are only a few places remaining, and I would love to have you there.
