Are You Stuck in a Cycle of Easy Wins? Here’s How to Break Free

Boost Your Energy, Boost Your Business – Small shifts can make a big impact

As solopreneurs, we often fall into daily routines without realizing it. We wake up at the same time, follow familiar habits, and complete tasks that feel comfortable. While this consistency can be beneficial, it can also keep us stuck, repeatedly picking the “low-hanging fruit” instead of reaching for bigger, bolder opportunities.

Recently, a workshop participant told me that her biggest roadblock was exactly this—defaulting to easy tasks instead of pursuing the larger goals that truly mattered to her. If you find yourself doing the same, it’s time to ask: What if you had the courage to go after the results you really want?

Why Do We Keep Reaching for the Easy Wins?

There are a few common reasons why solopreneurs stay in the cycle of low-hanging fruit:

  1. Habit and Routine
Our daily actions are often subconscious. We follow patterns without questioning them, which can be great when our habits support long-term success. But if we don’t pause to evaluate, we may realize we’re stuck in routines that no longer serve us.
  2. Lack of Prioritization
Many solopreneurs are deeply compassionate people, always putting others first. While generosity is a strength, neglecting your own goals can leave you feeling overlooked and unfulfilled. Over time, ignoring your own needs reinforces the belief that your dreams aren’t as important.
  3. Underlying Self-Doubt
If we’re constantly choosing safe, easy tasks, it may be a sign that deep down, we question whether we’re capable of more. These thoughts—”I’m not good enough,” “I’m not as successful as others”—hold us back from making bold moves.

How to Stop Settling and Start Reaching Higher

If you recognize yourself in these patterns, here’s how you can break free and start making intentional, bold choices:

  1. Shake Things Up
Find a way to disrupt your routine—whether it’s through a coach, mentor, mastermind, or even a course. Surrounding yourself with people who challenge you can inspire real change. The recent Spring Into Your Power workshop helped participants gain clarity and momentum. If you missed it, reach out, and I’ll let you know when the next opportunity is coming.
  2. Re-Energize Yourself
You bring the energy to your work, and shifting your mindset starts with small changes. Try playing music that lifts your mood or changing your work environment to break the monotony. These small shifts can help reframe your thinking and get you out of autopilot.
  3. Take a Small, Bold Step
Bold action doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In fact, making a move that feels too big can trigger fear and resistance. Instead, choose one small step that pushes you out of your comfort zone while still feeling manageable. Consistently taking these small, bold steps will build momentum over time.

Final Thoughts

If you want different results, you have to make different choices. Instead of settling for the easy tasks, start reaching for the work that truly excites and challenges you. Small, intentional changes today will shape your success six months from now.
