I hate social media.
“I hate social media.”
This is a conversation I hear often from coaches and entrepreneurs. Yet in the very next breath comes the question:
“How do I get clients without it?”
Many people find themselves caught in a push-and-pull relationship with visibility. They want to grow their business, expand their impact, and reach more people. At the same time, certain marketing activities feel exhausting, uncomfortable, or misaligned with their values.
Recently, I had a powerful conversation with another coach at an ICF conference. Ironically, I first experienced her brilliance when she coached me. During our conversation, we explored a challenge that is surprisingly common among coaches and business owners.
Let me ask you this:
What if the discomfort around social media isn’t really about social media at all?
The cost of holding back (week 6)
This week’s Winds of Wisdom focuses on a question many coaches quietly wrestle with:
What is the cost of holding back?
Perhaps you’ve completed the training. You’ve earned the credentials. You’ve helped clients create meaningful change.
Yet part of you may still be waiting. Waiting until your website is better, waiting until your message is clearer, waiting until you feel more confident.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
Most coaches don’t lack knowledge
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is this:
Most coaches are not held back by a lack of knowledge.
Instead, they’re held back by a reluctance to fully claim the wisdom they already carry.
Visibility feels vulnerable.
Raising your prices feels risky.
Choosing one path often means letting go of another.
Stepping into your next level requires releasing the version of yourself that has kept you feeling safe.
These, my friend, are common growth challenges.
What are you unwilling to claim?
The Winds of Wisdom invite you to consider a powerful possibility:
What if the thing standing between you and the business, life,
and the impact you want isn’t what you don’t know?
What if it’s what you’re unwilling to CLAIM?
The world doesn’t need another perfectly polished expert. It needs the version of you who is willing to show up fully.
Not someday.
NOW.
Growing into who you’re becoming
As my conversation with this coach continued, she shared something that stayed with me.
She realized that her next best step wasn’t about learning another strategy or finding another tactic. It was about walking more fully into who she is becoming.
That’s the work of self-realization.
We are always growing into our next version while simultaneously being enough as we are today.
The challenge is allowing ourselves to step forward before we feel completely ready.
Remember: growth happens when we move despite uncertainty.
Looking ahead: Creating a summer that works for you
On July 14, we’ll gather for a special workshop focused on shaping the second half of summer with intention.
Together, we’ll explore how coaches and entrepreneurs can create a season that includes:
- Meaningful work
- Family time
- Vacation and rest
- Personal fulfillment
- Sustainable growth
Rather than trying to do everything at once, we’ll focus on creating a more harmonious approach that supports both your business and your life.
I hope you’ll join us.
Until then, I encourage you to reflect on one simple question:
What wisdom are you ready to claim?
The answer may reveal your next step.
