Dream it, then do it: Slow is Sacred

Why the most powerful change begins with one small brave action.

Earlier this week I joined a podcast conversation that felt more like a soul chat than an interview.

I was recently interviewed by Laureen Quick, and we instantly connected. We share a similar view of life – one that’s grounded in dreaming big. Her very first question hit home:

“If someone is standing at the trailhead of change but unsure where to step, what’s one small brave action they could take this week?”

I loved that. Because that’s what I ask myself all the time.

And it’s what I want to ask you, too.

The trailhead of change

When you’re standing there, staring into something new, you might feel that mix of excitement and fear. You want change, but you’re not sure what comes next.

So here’s the truth: the only thing between you and your next Big Thing is fear dressed up as reason. You might tell yourself, “I can’t leave this job, my family depends on me,” or “Now’s just not the right time.”

And listen, I get it. We all have responsibilities. But the way you’re doing things now doesn’t have to be the way you’ll do them forever.

You can carve out a little space to imagine a different way – maybe by joining a group, working with a coach, or even having an honest conversation with a friend. That’s how brave action begins.

The long road of a dream

Let me tell you about my dream. Back in 2017, I drew a building and wrote “Beacon of Light Center” above it. I even scribbled the year 2040 in the corner. People asked why so far away, and I said, “Because big things take time.”

And they do.

It’s now 2025 (eight years later) and this dream has been slowly unfolding. Since then, I’ve changed my company name, hosted retreats, joined communities that fuel my vision, and even started leading women’s circles.

Each step looked small at the time, but together they’ve built something beautiful.

When slow is sacred

A few years ago, a client drew me a picture for my birthday. In it, I’m standing on a bridge with the words “I am the beacon of light.”

At the time, I didn’t fully see it.

Now I do.

You’re not behind

If you’re building something that feels slow – good. That means it’s real. You’re laying foundations that will last.

Remember, your current reality isn’t permanent. It’s just today’s version. So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to take your next small step, let THIS be it.

Because if I can do it, you absolutely can too.
