You don’t have to leap. You just have to begin.
I want to talk with you about the real reason you’re probably procrastinating. This came up during a full, beautiful session of The Overachievers Club on Oct 13, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Procrastination often shows up when you believe that what you’re about to do won’t make a difference – or that you won’t be able to see results fast enough. And let’s be honest, sometimes it just doesn’t sound fun.
If you’ve ever resisted sending a newsletter, writing that post, or taking the next small step in your business because it felt like “too much work for too little reward,” you’re not alone.
But here’s what I’ve learned: that feeling doesn’t mean stop. It means shift.
The secret is fun (and a little dopamine magic)
I’ve learned that if something feels like a slog, the answer isn’t to push harder. It’s to bring in joy.
That’s why, when I create newsletters or share updates, I always include things that light me up, like videos, reflections, and tips that I personally love. I infuse them with energy that feels alive.
Dopamine – the feel-good chemical in your brain – fuels motivation. The more delight you invite into your work, the more naturally your energy flows. When you make it fun, you move ahead.
From a pile of dirt to a sacred circle
Let me tell you a story.
In March, I had this wild, beautiful idea: to create a spiral in the backyard of my home, which is also the home of The Beacon of Light Center. When the first pile of dirt arrived on Juneteenth, I had no idea what it would become.
I started small, one shovel, one curve, one intention at a time. The spiral took shape. Then came seeding, watering, creating a circle, finding the right wood, oiling it, adding stones. Every step was tiny, but each one opened the next.
By October 4th – my birthday – the circle was complete. What started as a backyard project had become something sacred.
And then something extraordinary happened.
Through this circle, I met new teachers and discovered a goddess temple being built in Costa Rica. Now, I’m honored to be PART of that project – something I NEVER could’ve imagined when I was just moving that first pile of dirt.
That’s the magic of action. Small steps ripple outward in ways we can’t yet see.
Every step matters
If you’re feeling stuck right now, I invite you to take one small, meaningful step today.
You don’t need to know where it leads. Every small action is sacred.
When you make the process fun, when you focus on what lights you up, you’ll move forward with ease and flow.
One step at a time, one spark at a time, one breath at a time.
That’s how you move through procrastination and into creation.
