The green dress that changed everything

Why confidence isn’t earned — it’s remembered

Most people want to feel more confident  – not because they’re shallow or chasing praise, but because confidence opens doors. It helps us land opportunities, form meaningful relationships, and express our true selves. But many of us mistakenly believe that confidence comes after we achieve the big things: the job, the clients, the external validation.

In truth, confidence begins with self-acceptance –  loving yourself exactly as you are. Not the someday version of you. The today-you.

A few years ago, I walked into a store during the holiday season, browsing for a gift. That’s when I saw the green dress. I loved it instantly… and then quickly dismissed it. It felt too indulgent, too expensive, too “not now.”

My son –  10 or 11 at the time  –  noticed me looking and casually said, “When you’re a million-dollar coach, you’ll be able to afford it.” He believed in me more than I did.

Within a month, I went back, found a reason to buy the dress, and wore it proudly. It fit like a glove. It made me feel bold, beautiful, and worthy. That moment marked the birth of my “Green Goddess” identity – not because of the dress, but because I allowed myself to honor my desire without guilt.

So many of us are waiting for proof or permission. We say, “I’ll be confident when I…” But what if you flipped that script? What if you acted as if you were already the person you hope to become?

Whether it’s flowers on the table, a meaningful name you give yourself, or a car that reflects your style and values – allow yourself to have one thing that reminds you of who you are at your best.

These aren’t silly splurges. They’re sacred signals. When you align with what lights you up, confidence isn’t something you earn –  it’s something you remember.

Confidence is a practice. Check out this quick video on the topic.
