Burn Bright, Not Out: Disrupting Your Thinking for Meaningful Change

Learn how to align your goals with your mission and create sustainable success in the new year

Ignite Your Fire: Harness Your Passion and Burn Away What Holds You Back

Last week, I had the incredible honor of being a vendor at the Massachusetts Women’s Conference, where 11,000 powerhouse women gathered, featuring awe-inspiring speakers, including Oprah Winfrey herself. It was an unforgettable experience to connect with so many driven women who are setting the world on fire with their ambitions.

One of the key visuals at my booth was a fire. While it wasn’t a real flame—indoor events and safety rules don’t mix—it represented something deeply symbolic. This fire symbolized burning away what no longer serves us and igniting the passions and dreams that fuel our purpose. As Oprah asked during her keynote, “What have I come to this planet to offer?” That question lingered in the minds of many attendees, yet I noticed something surprising—a lot of these brilliant women didn’t take the next step of answering it for themselves.

Beyond Goals: Recognizing Where You Are

Here’s the thing: Many of us are go-getters. We know our goals. We’ve set them, written them down, and maybe even created vision boards. But in the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to lose sight of where we are in the process. Are we on track? Are we still pursuing what truly matters, or have we veered off course?

At the conference, I met several women who experienced lightbulb moments. One woman realized that her current job wasn’t aligned with her long-term goals, so she’s now crafting an exit strategy. Another had been putting off her dream for ten years, convinced she needed more experience. That hesitation, driven by the voices in her head keeping her “safe,” was holding her back from fully stepping into her greatness. Recognizing these barriers is the first step to moving forward.

Disrupting Your Thinking: Why Your Fire Matters

So often, the voices in our heads keep us small. They tell us to wait, to play it safe, to not rock the boat. But when you step into your amazingness, something extraordinary happens. You harness your fire, that burning desire within, and direct it with purpose.

This isn’t just about setting goals. It’s about going deeper—excavating what’s truly holding you back and asking yourself the tough questions. For example, one of my favorite exercises is a tongue-in-cheek twist: “How could I really mess up next year?” Writing down all the ways things could go wrong highlights exactly what you need to avoid and how to set yourself up for success.

Moving Beyond SMART Goals

SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—are valuable tools. But before you even get to setting those goals, you need to address the bigger picture:

  • What lights your fire?
  • Where are you burning out?
  • What do you need to let go of?
  • Where do you want to focus your energy?

When you align your long-term vision with your actions, everything changes. This isn’t about a single year—it’s about creating a roadmap for the next three years, the next decade, and beyond.

Join Me to Ignite Your Fire

On January 13th, I’m hosting a transformative two-hour workshop designed to help you go beyond traditional goal-setting. This isn’t just about creating another list of tasks; it’s about understanding your mission and creating a clear, actionable path forward. With a workbook, guided exercises, and deep reflection, we’ll uncover what’s holding you back and how to reignite your passion.

Seats are limited, and as of now, there are only five left. If you’re ready to harness your fire and step into your greatness, this is your chance. Let’s create a plan to light up your life and make an impact.

Your Next Step

If you’re ready to stop playing small, let me know what fire you want to ignite and what you’re ready to burn away. Comment on the post, or email me.  Let’s make 2025 the year you step into your amazingness.

I can’t wait to see you at the workshop or connect with you soon!

“This is a quick note to say thank you. It took a lot of hard work on my part and I know your guidance was really crucial as I rebuilt my focus and got my career back on track again. At this point I am finishing up a two year grant with the National Park Service, was awarded Citizen Planner of the Year 2024 for Northern New England, and am about to start a new job in January for UNH Extension as “Extension Field Specialist, Community & Economic Development, Merrimack County.

Your workshops were always tremendously fun and really helpful in rediscovering myself and my passions.

Ignite Your Mission: Simplify December to Step Into January Strong

Learn How Specific, Actionable Goals Can Help You End the Year With Purpose

Mid-December Reflections: Focusing on What Truly Matters

Hey, solopreneurs and busy professionals, this one’s for you. It’s mid-December, and if you’re anything like me, you’ve likely been juggling an overwhelming number of responsibilities while trying to make sense of it all. Over the last few weeks, I’ve shared strategies to help simplify this season—whether that’s narrowing your focus to three things or even just one.

As we approach the end of the year, let’s lean into the idea of clarity. Whether you’re an introvert like me, who finds solace in calm and reflection, or an extrovert who thrives in the bustle, the challenge is often the same: figuring out what truly deserves your energy.

The Power of Being Specific

A recent exchange with someone in our community brought this into focus. They shared their three goals for December: health, happiness, and resilience. These are wonderful intentions, but they’re broad and, honestly, difficult to measure. Here’s the truth: specific is terrific. When you define your goals clearly, you set yourself up for success.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. For me, my December goals are:

  1. Hit 5,000 steps daily. My usual target is 10,000, but with the holiday hustle, I’m giving myself grace.
  2. Ask for help with dinners. I’m focusing on simplicity instead of perfection when it comes to meals.
  3. Reconnect with my mission: Helping you ignite the flame of your passion without sacrificing everything else is my mission, so I’m plastering it everyplace!

When your goals are specific, they’re actionable—and that’s when real progress happens.

Exciting News: My Mission in Action

This month, I took a bold step out of my comfort zone to connect with a larger audience. I participated as a vendor at the Massachusetts Women’s Conference on December 12, an event with over 10,000 attendees. My booth was all about creating a grounding step by step experience, helping attendees reconnect with what truly matters.

The booth experience mirrored the journey I want for all of us:

  1. Ground yourself. Take time to get centered and reflect on what you want.
  2. Get clear. Identify what you’re holding onto that’s not serving you and let it go.
  3. Move forward. Understand what you truly want and why, then choose your next step.

The energy at the conference was electric, and it reminded me of the importance of these small, intentional moments to refocus on what matters most.

Your Invitation

Now, I want to extend this opportunity to you. As we wrap up this year, what’s one thing you want to carry into January? Be specific. Make it actionable. Then share it with me—I’d love to hear from you.

Looking ahead, I’m hosting a Kickoff the New Year Workshop on January 13th. This is a chance to plant the seeds for the year you truly want, with guided steps to help you take meaningful action. If this resonates, reach out to me or sign up—let’s make 2024 your best year yet.

My mission is to support your mission. Together, let’s figure out how to ignite the flame without burning out.

Until next time, remember: clarity is key, and small steps lead to big changes.

Cheers!

Carol

Start strong in January: One thing to focus on this December

A clear plan to bring your Best Self Into 2024

Hi friends, and happy December! Today, I want to keep things short and sweet—something I’ll be sticking to all month long. With the holiday season in full swing, we all have plenty on our plates, and you don’t need me adding more.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or just over everything (as many of us do this time of year), here’s my invitation: Identify one thing—just one—that you want to carry into January.

This could be personal, professional, or even a new habit. But here’s the key: Keep it specific.

Vague goals like “get more organized” or “eat healthier” don’t give you anything to measure or work toward. Instead, focus on something clear and actionable. For example:

  • “I want to clean and organize my desk by January 1.”
  • “I will exercise three times per week.”
  • “I’ll bake holiday cookies with my kids before the 20th.”

Pick something meaningful but manageable. Then share it with me! If you’re watching the video, comment below with your one thing. If you’re reading this, hit reply and let me know. And if you’re part of the Unscatter Me Facebook group, post your one thing there for accountability.

A Bonus Update

I’m thrilled to announce that on Thursday, December 12th, I’ll be at the Boston Women’s Conference! While I’m not speaking this year, I’ll be hosting a unique, immersive booth that I can’t wait to share with you.

Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect:

  • A forest-inspired experience designed to help you reflect and reset.
  • Steps to guide you through deciding, discerning, and discovering what truly matters to you.
  • Special giveaways, prizes, and exclusive offers.

If you’re local, I’d love for you to stop by and say hi. And if you can’t make it, reach out—I’d still love to hear from you.

Your Big Thing for 2024

As we move toward the New Year, I want to help you set the stage for your best work yet. Mark your calendar for January 13th, when I’ll host a workshop to help you turn your goals into action.

But for now, just focus on your one thing. Share it with me, take that first step, and let’s walk into January ready to shine.

I can’t wait to hear about it!
